The Senior Center provides “curb to curb” transportation for Ellington residents at least 60 years old, or disabled between the age of 18 to 59 years old. Participants must be independent and perform daily living activities, or have a companion to accompany you for services. Wheelchairs must be equipped with a seatbelt. Please refer to the Transportation Policies & Procedures Brochure for complete rules and regulations.
Rides are provided to non-emergency medical appointments, errands, and appointments within a 15 mile radius. A two week notice is appreciated when scheduling a ride. Rides are booked based on driver availability.
The Senior Center complies with the Public Rights under Title VI. Our drivers have a drivers’ license valid in Connecticut with Public Service Passenger Endorsement F and/or CDL with passenger endorsement.
Ellington Senior Center Transportation Services are partially funded by a grant award from North Central Area Agency on Aging, Inc., NCAAA “funded in part, by the Older American’s Act.” In 2019, the town received grant funding award under FFY 2018 TRADITIONAL SECTION 5310 Capital, Connecticut Department of Transportation for a new bus to replace the existing vehicle.

There is suggested donation of either $30 annually, or $3 per ride. Cash or checks accepted. Checks can be made payable to Ellington Senior Center.
