Trips

Trip sign-ups are first come, first served. Spaces are limited and can not be guaranteed, so we encourage you to sign up as early as possible.

Payment is required at the time of sign-up in order to be placed on the trip roster. Payment in the form of cash and checks (payable to "Ellington Senior Center") are accepted.

Prior to signing up for a trip, please be sure to read and understand the REFUND POLICY posted below.

Day Trip Policy

Payment is due in full upon signup for all day trips. Some trips are shared with other centers and we are offered a certain number of seats. If we run a trip by ourselves, typically 40 participants are required. In either case, if minimums are not met, the trip will be cancelled and payment will be refunded.

All day trips are non-refundable unless you find a substitute or have purchased insurance (and will be reimbursed according to policy guidelines).

Overnight Trip Policy

Deposit is due upon sign-up. Each trip flyer indicates when full payment must be made by. Insurance for overnight trips is only available at sign-up. Some trips are shared with other centers and we are offered a certain number of seats. If we run a trip by ourselves, typically 40 participants are required. How Do I Sign Up?

A completed Annual Registration must be on file for EVERYONE who is taking a trip. See the Administrative Secretary with payment to register.
•   DAY TRIPS: Payment is due in full on sign up.
•   OVERNIGHT TRIPS: Deposit is due upon sign-up. Each trip lists the balance due date on the flyer. Insurance for overnight trips is only available during sign-up.
•   CRUISES: Information on who to contact to sign up for each cruise is on each flyer. Most cruises are through the Ship Shop (Friendship Tours) and they are contacted directly. State that you are with the Ellington Senior Center and they will take care of everything!

When Can I Sign Up?

You may sign up for a trip as soon as it is posted. Some trips sell out quickly. Sign up as far in advance as possible so we know if these trips are going to be successful! Depending on the trip, anywhere from 20 to 40 people are required to make the trip go. If there appears to be a lack of interest as the deadline nears, the trip may be cancelled. Deadlines are generally as follows:
•   DAY TRIPS: require a final count 1 month prior to the trip date.
•   OVERNIGHT TRIPS: require a final count 2 months prior to the trip date.
•   CRUISES: require several months in advance, up to a year.

What is the Refund Policy?

Trip Insurance

If you opt to purchase trip insurance, the enrollment form and payment must be received within 14 days of your initial deposit.

How to purchase travel protection insurance for trips offered through the Ellington Senior Center and Friendship Tours & the Ship Shop:

1. Enroll online at https://nta.aontravelprotect.com and use Friendship Tour’s operator location #076068. Here you can view the description of coverage for both the Basic and Enhanced plans.

2. Call AON, 1-800-388-1470, to purchase over the phone with a customer service agent and use Friendship Tour’s operator location #076068. Agents can also answer any questions on the plans.

3. Call Friendship Tours & The Ship Shop 1-800-243-1630, and their overnight or cruise department can help register your passengers online.

NTA works with Friendship Tours, (who the Ellington Senior Center goes through in coordinating most of our trips). We suggest you keep a copy of your enrollment paperwork for your records. If you phoned in your credit card information, be sure to take note of the date, time, and person you spoke with, and get a confirmation number.
