Did you know that our Health Center is filled with a plethora of information and brochures? These brochures are provided by a variety of resources, including the Town of Ellington Elderly Outreach Social Worker, The Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT Inc., the State Department on Aging, the Alzheimer's Association and many local providers.  

The doors are generally open during regular business hours for you to pop in and grab information on the following topics:

Men's Fitness Class - Free trial class March 17 at 9 am

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00 am-9:45 am

  • 4 week session (8 classes) March 19-April 14

  • Sign up in advance.  Class Max. 10. Minimum 4.  No Walk-ins.

  • Residents $24, Non-residents $32

In this fitness class created just for men, the emphasis is on progressively building total body strength, improving balance, stability, and flexibility.  The goal is to work towards a recommended healthy habit of 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week and muscle strengthening 2-5 days a week.

About the Instructor: Linda Stein is an Ellington resident who is a certified fitness instructor. She is a past Silver Sneakers instructor and has received training with the Arthritis Foundation. All classes will be adapted to meet the participants’ needs.

In this class you will be challenged.  As with Simple Circuit, the focus is on strength training and balance. A variety of props are used, including hand weights, elastic bands and balance balls. Participants are asked to bring their own equipment. Dress comfortably and bring a water bottle.

Hand Massage with Kay

Kay has recently been trained in the Healing Hands Touching Hearts Massage Routine.  Hand massages are free and take about 15 minutes.  Please sign up at the front desk for your time slot.  Additional appointments and walk-ins will be accepted, only if time permit

Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention

Join Sam for a slow, gentle class, suitable for all, especially those with arthritis and issues with balance.  Participate standing or in a chair.  This Sun Style class is evidence based and recommended by the CDC to be effective at preventing falls.
